Mona Lisa Cafe is a lovely restaurant at the end of the main street that not many people may be drawn to. I was looking for an affordable place to get dinner with some friends in Chelsea (ha! I know right? Challengeeeeeeee!) and this sounded like just the spot- and it was!

The food is Italian and what the reviews say is true- the prices are very reasonable and the food is very good, with big portions. The house red wine was also fantastic and insanely cheap. All of us really liked it. I need to go look up which one that was... I'm trying to get better at remembering which wines I like. Anyway! We shared the seafood pasta (Mona Lisa pasta) and the sea bass with a side of vegetables and potatoes.

The service was very good and I will definitely say if you're in the Chelsea area and want some yummy Italian (and at a good price!!!), come here.

Well, maybe I just was there on 3 bad days.  After my first disappointing experience, I thought I'd give it another go.  The second time was no better, so I tried a third time.  Certainly the prices are very good,  but as we all should know, there's normally a reason for that.

I'm familiar with most greasy spoons in zones 1-3, and this is one I shall be avoiding.  It's all to do with the tea and way the food is heated.

It's not that difficult to make a half way decent cup of tea.  But for some reason, they can't.  I suppose they're using cheaper tea.  But how much does it cost to but PG Tips/Typhoo/Yorkshire Grey/similar in large wholesale bags?  Or maybe the staff make it wrong?  Whatever they're doing wrong is affecting what they serve.

If I'm not mistaken, the food (or at least what I was served), was heated in a microwave.  There are ways of telling that, and unless I'm mistaken, that's what happened with what they served me.  Or maybe they stuck it under a grill.  I almost burnt a finger or two when I first touched the plate.  It was abnormally hot.  Not normal warm, but dangerously hot.  Like it had been in a microwave too long, or left under the grill too long.  When I asked a server about it, she gave me a guilty look, said sorry and said she didn't know why.  I got the feeling that perhaps they were short staffed and/or they were a bit dis-organised.  But, the same thing has happened each and every time I've gone there.

Delicious and great value for money with friendly service.
Their £9.95 three-course specials are truly marvellous. Nice and clean bathrooms too.

This not a Greek restaurant as indicated by the YELP description. It is Italian and the staff would like that to be clear. Very simple menu, lots of daily specials. The shrimp in Chili's is awesome. Served as an appetizer but easily becomes a meal of your order two servings for yourself.

Good wine and food in a basic simple environment right out of Italy. Family style restaurant with great service.

    Amazing price/value for London!

0ur best find in London...thanks to Yelp!  The £9.95 prix fixed menu was great for hubby....mussels, chicken cacciatore with fresh green beans and potatoes and cheesecake for dessert was a real bargain!  My pasta with cream, mushrooms and ham was decadent and delicious.....best value we've found this week in a truly lovely, cosmopolitan city.
